Safe Removalist Australia handles furniture removals in Australia’s major cities, from a single sofa to a full house. Our own crews work out of Sydney, Canberra and Brisbane. In Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Cairns, Darwin and Townsville we work with partners we have used for more than five years.

Protection materials are included in the price. Rates include GST and are the same on weekends and public holidays.

Furniture Removal Services We Offer

• Small furniture removals: one sofa, a fridge or a few boxes. These are charged at the minimum for the truck size.
• Full house moves: from a 1 bedroom unit to a 4 to 5 bedroom house.
• Store pickups: we collect from IKEA, Facebook Marketplace sellers and auctions and deliver to your door.
• Interstate furniture moves: handled by our interstate removalists.
• Furniture removal and storage: items can go into storage between homes, priced by volume.

How Our Furniture Movers Protect Your Items

Hard furniture such as tables, chests of drawers and TV units is wrapped in moving blankets.

Soft furniture such as mattresses, couches, chairs and cushions is shrink wrapped.

Every load is secured in the truck with straps. All of this is included in the price.

TVs and Screens

Screens are wrapped in blankets and then shrink wrapped. We do not remove wall brackets, but the crew can hold the screen while you take out the screws.

Do Removalists Dismantle Furniture?

Yes. Our crews dismantle and reassemble beds, desks, tables and other common furniture. On hourly jobs this is included at no extra charge. On fixed quotes it is charged separately.

For a gas lift bed or another unusual item, email us a photo first so we can send a team with the right tools.

We do not disconnect or reconnect washing machines. Please arrange this before moving day.

Heavy and Special Items

• Upright piano: $250 flat fee plus $7 per stair. See our piano removalists page for details.
• Grand and baby grand pianos: we do not move them.
• Marble furniture, fish tanks and other items over 150 kg: priced individually after you send photos.
• Glass cabinets and large mirrors: tell us about them when you book so the crew can plan the handling.

Furniture Removalists Prices

We charge by the half hour, in 30-minute increments:

• Small truck with 2 removalists: $90 per half hour, minimum 3 hours
• Medium truck (6 to 8 tonne) for 2 to 3 bedroom homes: $100 per half hour, minimum 4 hours
• Large truck (10 to 12 tonne) with 3 removalists: $110 per half hour, minimum 5 hours
• Extra large truck with 3 removalists: $150 per half hour, minimum 6 hours

A standard 1 hour travel fee applies to jobs within an hour of our depot. Beyond that, we charge the actual travel time.

What Can Add to the Bill

Bad access, a long walk from the truck, items over 150 kg, and paid parking where it is the only option.

A 10% fuel levy applies to all jobs.

How to Get an Accurate Estimate

The time a move takes depends on the amount of furniture and the access at both addresses, so we do not give a set price per bedroom. Fill in the inventory list we send with your quote, or start with our moving calculator.

What to Tell Us Before Moving Day

• The number of stairs at each address. A first level of up to 12 stairs is not charged, but higher floors are.
• How far the truck can park from the door. The first 25 m on flat ground is included.
• Photos of heavy or unusual items, such as a piano, marble furniture, a fish tank or a gas lift bed.
• Any items to collect from a store or a seller on the way.
